Gifting in your Great Dane
If you are viewing this page you have probably made the
difficult decision to gift in your Dane for rehoming. If the reason you
have come to this decision is due to behavioural problems, please
read
this first.
For your peace of mind we would like to make you aware of
our practices:
-
All our potential adoptive homes are vetted and follow
up visits are conducted
-
All our dogs are fully assessed so that their needs
and characteristics can be matched to those of the adoptive family
-
All our dogs are fed on Royal Canin for Giant Breeds
which has reduced the instances of bloat in our dogs by over 90%
-
All our bitches are spayed prior to rehoming
-
All dogs in our care receive all necessary veterinary
treatment
-
All our adoptive homes sign a contract requiring them
to properly care for the dog and not to kennel the dog, use them for
breeding, relinquish them to anybody else or destroy them. The dog
remains the property of GDAS at all times and we can recall them back
into care if we feel it necessary
-
The Great Dane Adoption Society never refuses to take in any Great
Dane in need of rehoming, regardless of the severity of
their health or behaviour except when their quality of life is already irreversibly
compromised . However due to the large amount of Danes in need of
rehoming we do need to operate a waiting list as our resources are
limited. All our dogs are kept in our care until we find them an
appropriate home or they pass away. We only euthanase a dog
when their quality of life is irreversibly compromised
-
The Great Dane Adoption Society is a registered
charity ( No 1091717 )
To help us to provide appropriate care for the Dane you
wish to gift into care please complete the information below and send it
to us. We will contact you very shortly to make some arrangements.
Finally whilst we do not charge for rehoming your Dane,
donations are always welcome and much needed. On average every rehomed dog
costs us £200, so please give as much as you can honestly afford to help us care
for and rehome your Dane.
