Special Danes looking for a homeThe dogs on this page are only a few of the approx. 30 dogs we have in care at any time. In addition to the "Special Needs Dogs" shown on this page, we have many other less demanding dogs waiting for homes. We do not maintain a public list of the dogs in care as it changes daily. All of our dogs are properly assessed and all of our potential homes are checked for suitability. In addition the dogs are all vaccinated and wormed, and all the bitches are neutered prior to adoption. Our Dog Adoption Unit works very hard to ensure that the right Dane is put into the right home by marrying the needs of the Dane and the needs of the new home. Jade
My story so far is a little bit sad so please have tissues handy. When I was born my mummy was in such an unhappy state that she didn’t want us. All my brothers and sisters were killed by our mummy, but I was saved. It’s only natural that when a bitch feels insecure she will not bring more mouths into the world to feed. My mummy did bite me and left me with half an ear lobe on the right side and also just caught the corner of my eye so although I can see just fine, my right eye is a little smaller than my left eye. Anyway I was sold to an old lady, who couldn’t take care of me and she kept me in an outside toilet for the first year of my life. A local family heard about me and went to see the old lady and gave some money for me. They took me to the vet and gave me some good food and a nice home. They would have kept me but I didn’t see eye to eye with their female Spaniel. They contacted GDAS and took me to the Sanctuary. I am now neutered and like other dogs if introduced properly. I am very affectionate but because of my upbringing I am a little wild at heart! I play all the time and need a family with time to train me properly. I would like to be an only pet. If you have no small children and you are kind patient and above all fit and active please consider me. Thank you for reading my story and please apply online today asking for Jade. Love Jade xxxxxxx

Bailey & Pippa
We are just 3 years old and we are good with people and other dogs. Pippa is frightened of young children but 14 years plus would be suitable for us. We have never lived with cats. Our ideal home would be with people who did not leave us for long periods of time. We have had two homes in the past and both have left us for excessively long periods home alone, which we didn’t like much. We are not destructive but we did bark a lot when we were left on our own all night long. We are good on and off lead and like lots of exercise and a place to run and play everyday. If you think you have space for the two of us please apply online and mention our names. I am not going to tell Pippa that I am writing this because she will get too excited! Lots of Love Bailey xxxxxx

OllieI am a handsome Blue boy of 4 years. I have been castrated and I am fighting fit. I like people and older children but I do not like babies. There is just something about them – now lets be honest they do pong a bit and that high pitch scream well it does go right through one doesn’t it! Really I am better with anything Big. Big dogs are preferable to small dogs. I am fine with Dane girls but I don’t care much for small dogs either. I need an experienced home who can give me plenty of exercise and where I need not come into contact with little dogs or little people. I know it’s a tall order but I am ever hopefully yours. Please consider me and apply online Ollie. xxxxxxx In addition to the "Special Needs Dogs"

Blue
I have been neutered, vaccinated chipped etc. My family left the pub where they worked and left me behind all on my own. I am very friendly with people of all ages but would be too bouncy to live with small children, so teenagers would be fine. I like to meet dogs and play but would prefer to live as an only dog. I have been starved of food in the past so I am not good at sharing my food with another dog. I am fine with people being near my food however. I need an experienced, kind, sensible home who are patient and understand big dogs because I am strong and full of beans. If you think we would make a good team please apply online today and ask for Blue, Thank you for reading my story. Blue xx In addition to the "Special Needs Dogs"

My mum moved house and didn’t want to take me with her so she rang GDAS. I have been neutered vaccinated etc. I had very sore eyes when I arrived. I had entropia on all 4 eye lids making it very painful to open my eyes but they have now been operated on and I can see properly again and it doesn’t hurt me anymore. I was also very hungry but that improved once I had been properly wormed. I like other dogs and like to play, and I will bark at cats but I have never harmed one. I have lived with young children in the past and like them as long as they are kind to me. I am a big boy and need nice walks every day and a cosy bed but in return I give lots of cuddles and sit on your lap. I am a very loveable boy who is desperate for a forever home. Thank you for reading about me and please apply online today. Love form Hugo xxxxx
