Can you help by sponsoring one of our dogs?

We have several "sponsor dogs" who have special problems but are happy and content living with our Dog Adoption Officer or special foster families. These dogs cannot be re-homed but they live a full and happy life under the care of G.D.A.S. 

Sponsorship is a minimum of £20 per year and in turn they keep in touch with their sponsor families on a regular basis. Many people buy a sponsorship as a special present for a loved one.

Meg

Meg is 5 years old.

She came to the GDAS after a family break up.

After going out to a foster home Meg became very unwell. She was eventually diagnosed with an under active Thyroid, which is now controlled with daily medication.

Meg has to have regular blood tests to keep her illness in check, but she still manages to live life to the full with her foster family and doggie companion Bill.

Your kind sponsorship will help towards the cost of Meg’s daily medication and her regular check ups.

Molly

Molly is a beautiful 5 yr old girl.

When Molly came to us she was dying. She was clinically collapsed with a racing heart and in shock. She was taken to the vets daily, carried on a stretcher as she could not walk, for blood tests and drug treatment.

Slowly in time she started to stand with the help of slings and 3 of us helping her. It was a joyous day when she took her first steps un-aided in the garden and we realised she was going to make it.

She is friendly with people and dogs and is full of life despite her chronic illnesses.

Molly has Addison’s disease which is controlled by daily tablets. She also had Hypothyroidism which also requires daily pills and Dilated Cardio Myopothy (Enlarged Heart) for which she has heart tablets. She has regular blood tests to monitor her conditions.

All in all she is a very expensive dog to keep, but we feel she is worth every penny.

Molly loves to play in the snow, and lives in the farm house at the Sanctuary with the other House Danes.

Lily and Milly

Lily is a Great Dane and Milly is a Dane x Mastiff, they are both 6 years old.

Lilly and Milly have been together all their lives. They are devoted to each other and now live in a loving family home.

Lilly has difficulty with one of her front feet and has to wear a boot whenever she goes out. She has a permenant limp although we have been assured by our Orthopaedic specialist that she is not in pain.

Both enjoy regular walks on the beach and swimming in the river.
